8          Trammels are used for scribing very large arcs while marking off.

9       The teeth of a hacksaw should always face the front and the cutting is done on the forward stroke.

10     A fine pitch blade is used when cutting thin material. As a rule you always aim to use a blade which will have at least 3 teeth in contact with the work at any one time. Then there’s less chance of breaking teeth.

11     Prick punch along the line after marking off and file until the prick punch marks are cut in half.

12     The head has a mushroom shape, which can cause 2 problems

          •        The sharp edges on the underside of the head can be driven into your hand by the force of the hammer

          •        Small pieces from the underside of the head can fly off and hit you or a workmate.
