answer:
1. (3 Marks) Describe the care, maintenance and certification required for the lifejackets on your vessel.
Lifejackets should be
inspected regularly to ensure good operating condition and will be examined
at the annual survey.
Routine checks should include:-
1. the attachments are intact
and in good condition (retro-reflective tape, whistle, light and battery)
2. the condition of all stitching,
fastening, tapes, loops, straps, buckles etc.
3. the buoyancy compartments
(squeeze each one individually). If
it feels unusually hard, or heavy, damage to buoyancy cushion may have occurred.
Have it checked.
4. the colour. The jacket should be UV protected but prolonged
exposure to the sunlight may damage and or fade the fabric. If colour is faded - replace the life jacket.
