The late Bruce was one of the great characters of the valley, a founder member of the “water rats” and a man on fire with a love for the river and the craft that sailed it. He was a great welcomer to newcomers, and would shivey them and all to keep the old sails of the Hastings full. Here he helms the “Marguerite” and her party as it whispers down stream at night fall. He is sadly missed.
