Select Nav, Sonar, Steer, Map & window as required

 

Interpret & communicate advice of displayed soundings

Select a saved waypoint & initiate go to waypoint route  

 

Communicate advice of displayed steer screen

 

Cancel selected navigation route  

 

Enter a quick save, MOB, & delete  

     

Enter a lat/long & initiate a go to waypoint route  

 

Describe errors, faults & precautions for GPS navigation

     

RADAR

Describe precautions for personal safety in using radars

     

Turn on, set brilliance, gain, range, sea clutter, retune

 

Describe proper use of A/C Sea Clutter & FTC Rain

     

Access Range Rings, IR, Echo stretch, Shift, VRM, EBL

 

Identify coastal feature and advise of its range / bearing

     

Plot position and describe its reliability

 

Identify vessel targets and their range / bearing

     

Determine risk of collision by EBL & range

 

Conduct flotilla search pattern by range ring separation

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

 

USING 27MHz RADIO

 

Turn on and adjust for optimum reception/transmission

Turns on battery, raises antenna, turns on set, selects Ch90, checks ISC TX  RX  DW status, checks volume level squelch off, sets squelch on correctly, readjusts as set warms

   

Transmit a crew list advise call & message

Monitors for break in traffic, Transmits initial call...........”VMR Port Macquarie (x1) this is Name of vessel (x1) Over”

Receive reply and adjust volume if appropriate.

Monitors for break in traffic, Transmits message .....“VMR Port Macquarie Name of vessel is underway with x POB whose crew numbers are x, y & z.  Advise of other detail &/or next sched. Over”

 

Receive, transmit & record sitreps

As above with relevant update includes position/situation at 30 minute intervals.
